The ViewOxford Review
The Bridge is a popular and plush nightclub that attracts pretty young things intent on partying long into the night.
The Venue
The club is located in the city centre and is one of the busiest in Oxford so if you're not there early you could be queuing for a while to get in. The Bridge is split into three different parts with Anuba (the pre club bar) the main club and the lounge. Starting off at Anuba gives you fast track admission to the club and you can also hire this place for private parties.
The club has two big dancefloors which are in separate rooms from the bars on each level. This makes it more enjoyable as you don’t have to watch out for people carrying drinks when you're dancing like a wild thing.
The upstairs dancefloor has great strobe lighting, a few platforms and a pole for the exhibitionists, who can be very entertaining. One of the bars has plenty of leather seating so it’s very easy to buy a large round of drinks without having to walk miles back to your table. Unfortunately the seating area does tend to get taken very quickly by the regulars who spread their coats about like they're marking territory. Getting there early is a must if you want somewhere to sit during the course of the night.
The lounge acts as the VIP area and has recently been refurbished - it now offers VIP packages. These are pretty expensive but you do get drinks, queue jumping potential and table service. There's plenty of space for larger groups with comfy leather sofas to chill out on.
The People
The people that work at The Bridge are pretty friendly and if there is any trouble the club bouncers are there within seconds. It's a favourite with students who all look effortlessly cool after a lot of effort. You know the ones - casualwear that costs a lot, bed hair that's been styled that way and an all year tan that's not fake.
The Music
The music at the club is varied depending on what night you go. Usually on the first floor there’s hip hop and R'n'B and the second floor plays dance anthems. In the lounge the music is more chilled and soul is a popular soundtrack in here.
The Drinks
The drinks are not too badly priced in the Anuba Bar. They have a happy hour for cocktails which they sell at half price and there are loads of drink promotions on beers and cocktails during the night.
The Last Word
This club offers smart surroundings and mainstream music, two things which are a hit with the hordes who come here.
