Discover the spooky side of Oxford this October with a host of special Halloween Oxford events including ghost tours, witches trails and macabre mazes. Enter if you dare.
Spectre Tours
One of the best ways of discovering the city's ghouls is with Bill Spectre's ghost tours and he's hosting extra tours for Halloween. His Ghost Trails set off from outside the Oxford Castle Unlocked and the Oxford Information Centre and the props and illusions make this costumed tour one of the more terrifying Halloween Oxford events.
Castle Unlocked
One of the spookiest places in the city, what with prison cells and the creepy Crypt, is Oxford Castle. And there's a host of ghastly goings on at the castle this Halloween. Oxford events for All Hallows Eve have been specially tailored for this historic building by the Fright Nights team. They're running a 16-day Ghost Fest at Oxford Castle Unlocked which includes paranormal experiments, ghost hunts, lone vigils and seances with some of Britain's leading clairvoyants and psychics. Spaces are limited and tickets are selling fast as this is an extremely popular event.
Halloween Howl
At Millets Farm there are family friendly Halloween Oxford events as part of their annual Halloween Howl. During the day mini ghosthunters can take part in the Spook Hunt, wander around the Witches Trick or Treat Trail and on Halloween there's a fancy dress competition. There's also the terrifying Mass-acre Maze which is open after dark, so don't forget to pack a torch. Inside, you'll find ghosts and maybe even hear a few other-worldly whispers!
Macabre Makeover
Blenheim Palace has a few spooks and spectres hiding inside its grand walls and for Halloween and half term there's plenty of creepy activities to send a shiver up your spine. You can search for ghosts in a special trail around Pleasure Gardens, have a macabre makeover with face-painting, create a spooky bit of pottery or carve a pumpkin. Family ghost tours are also taking place in the Palace's State Rooms and you can learn more about the ghosts in Blenheim Palace: The Untold Story.
Halloween Oxford events take place on or around 31st October 2009.
