I recently dined with a friend at Quod. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a great ambiance. I know friends who have had great meals there. But unfortunately we did not. The waitress was bordering on rude. I ordered beef and was asked how i would like this, to which I replied well done. When it arrived it was dripping blood. So I asked if they could cook it through for me. The waitress came over to inform me that chef said that it was well done but he would cook another one. 30 mins later it still had not returned, my poor friend was trying to eat her meal slowly ! I had to ask where it was, and it was brought straight out to me, but had obviously been sat under a heat lamp, and was shrivelled up and horrible. The manager then popped over to see how we were, and I showed him what I had been served, he then said I could choose something else but he would only charge me for one meal.

Now I know everyone has off days, but I work in this industry myself and we do make mistakes too. But I go out of my way to apologise and make sure my customers leave feeling some reparation has been made, and hopefully ensuring they do not feel the need to write negative reviews such as this.

My wife and I dined at Quod. When we arived we were warmly welcomed,we sat at the bar and ordered a drink. To my wife's surprise the Gin and Tonic served was a double. When we questioned the barman he retorted this is standard practice here at Quod. My wife was driving later after our meal so this practice could easily have put her over the legal limit. Whilst sitting at the bar we were entertained by the waitresses who were sneakily eating ice cream from a cupboard in view from the bar but out of sight from the restaurant area.

When we were seated we were promptly and politely served, the food arrived, my wife had lamb,vegetables and french fries. We rejected the fries as it seemed as though they'd been reheated and tasted awful. My meal, duck with potatoes and veg was nice but very small portions. In all we were very disapointed with the food but the ambience and staff were good.

I had booked the private room in quod for lunch party. The food was excellent, the staff superb. Very cooperative and polite and provide the best service. Will definitely visit again.
