Just a small nice boozer. Live Music almost every night and lovely bar staff. I was there on Tuesday early evening and it was very quiet but the bar staff were very chatty and felt welcome and entertained. Not to forget the beer- very nice.
Can't wait going in there again.
I absolutely love this pub. It is one of the few pubs left with character- when I used to live in London I came to the Half Moon to have a proper drink with proper people and atmosphere. The ales and the Guinness are by far the best around this area- it seems that someone is taking care of it. In many bars in Oxford the toilets are just not nice but I must say that even the toilets are clean.
I don't know what happened to the previous reviewers but it seems to me that they have been out together.
It is one of the loveliest places, it has got a heart and a soul. You won't get any of that faked being in there. I can only recommend this place.
It has got wonderful live music and there is a piano which is free to be played by anyone who enjoys playing it.
Please people, feel free and make your own mind up as the staff will help you with anything you need to know about beer.
I'll carry on going there no matter what other people say as I have made my mind up already.
Terrible pub,
We popped in there after walking back from Oxford town centre and didn't stay long. The bar staff were extremely rude and there was a very unwelcoming atmosphere. I will not be going back there. The bar area was dirty, it was very small and the service was horrific: rude and aggressive. Definitely won't be popping in there again. It was very loud and you couldn't talk the music from this small band was equally terrible. Left with a headache and felt uncomfortable.
Terrible pub to go to.
Awful atmosphere and the bar staff were very rude. Would never go again and pay any money at that pub: horrific, rude staff and very bad service. Definitely one of the worst pubs I have been to in Oxford and I have been living here now for ten years. Won't be going ever again.
Definately the worst pub in England. Leave your dignity at the door because the crazies behind the bar are well known for humiliating tourists. Leave this one for the Roysten Vaseyesqe regulars & other local pondlife.
Appaulling pub
Horrific experience avoid this pub like the plague. The staff are extremely rude to customers. There is a lot of swearing from staff and angry people. Not enough seats, extremely small, dirty and a shocking experience. I would never go again to this pub it is the worst pub I have ever been in. Abusive staff terrible atmosphere and lots of fights.
The Worst pub ever in Oxford
Avoid this pub at all cost. The bar staff are appalling and extremely rude. They start ranting and shouting verbal abuse at
customers. If you want to get insulted on a night out then go to the Half Moon in Oxford . It is definitely the worst pub in Oxford. The staff are appalling. It is dark, dingy and dirty and a terrible atmosphere. This is definately the worst pub in Oxford.
I love Half Moon. It's a real proper boozer with lots of chat and a great mix of town ngown. Live music, folk on Sundays and other nights -musicians just drop in and play, jazz last Wed of month is great -trish Elphinstone quintet plus diff guest every month, occasional visits from Oxford's very own Jazz guitarist pete oxley and plenty more. Licenced till late seven days a week, the real ales are really well looked after and the Guinness is just great. Staff are eccentric and helpful! More power to them.
