What has happened to the good portions, reasonable prices and home cooked food and friendliness since the last guys went?!! returned end of November with friends after coming in October to a vast change....not to the better....shame :(
My wife and I had a great experience at the Vine's today, staff were busy but made time for those small details that make the difference when having lunch with family. Ten out of ten from all of us! M & P,Lincolnshire.
worst place in oxford. the bar staff are unfriendly and seem like paedophiles, (such as tom mosedale). the food cooked by lee porter is the worst i have tasted in a while, and i shall never be returning to this very under-established, overpriced, and overrated "establishment". i have never experienced such poor quality and such a dull, dead atmosphere.
i feel generous awarding one star, as this is really NOT the place to take your parents or girlfriend out to dinner!
more of just a "lets get pissed" type of location and really should not be classified as a restaurant.
My partner and I enjoyed a first class three-course meal at the Vine Inn on Saturday 12th March 2011. This was our first time dining here and, although we'd made a thirty miles round-trip journey to reach Cumnor, the quality and quantity of the food together with the outstanding service provided by Lee Porter and his team made the effort well worthwhile. Rarely does a restaurant serve properly cooked fresh vegetables but this one does..........to perfection. This is a true gastro-pub and is highly recommended if you're looking for a pleasant night out. Although there was none of the famous selection of real ales on offer that night (the refrigeration system had failed) the complimentary glass of Merlot was a nice touch to offset the slight disappointment.

The standard of the food was not as good as described, I had pork loin and it was like a large Tesco economy chop that was raw in the middle, also my chocolate brownie dessert was fridge cold and rather tasteless, I would not recommend or return. It was cheep pub grub at restaurant prices.
A nice friendly pub, with a great new Spanish chef. I would recommend it to all families, we had a great meal in front of the log burning fireplace. Will definitely be going back for the Christmas season.
