This pub changed its name, management, and style early last year (2011). It is now called The Punter.Since the change it has been totally redecorated, which it certainly needed. The beer is still excellent. The staff are friendly and accommodating (opinions differ on whether this was so before). The biggest change has been to the food. It used to be traditional-style pub food, normal-sized portions and inexpensive. After re-opening, it was expensive gastro-pub style food. But the management must have found that there was little local demand for this. So now, a main course is only £5, and while it is excellently cooked, it is rather small, so if you have a normal appetite, you will need another course as well, at another £5.

The bands here are truly awesome, great atmosphere and lovely people make it the best!
