We heard that The Maybush had recently changed hands and was now being run by a family and a top Chef. Having eaten Sunday Lunch at the Maybush yesterday I was compelled to write to complement the Chef on the quality, quantity and value he provided. . . . It was outstanding! Six of us enjoyed home made soup, Roast Sirloin of local beef (cooked to perfection "a la Manoir") real veg and real roast potato, and a great pudding too. Several bottles of wine and glasses of beer, etc., over 4 hours and the bill was just £128, amazing value. The new Landlord and his family are provding a warm welcome and real atmosphere. It is like stepping back in time, good food, good wine and beer, a warm welcome, cheery smiles, dominoes, candles, etc. There is nothing plastic about The Maybush, it is the real deal. Highly recommeded :)

Went today for lunch with Hubby & Daughter (15/08/2010)very disappointed with everything. 1 meal of Sausage & Chips (just 2 sausages & a few warm fries and watery gravy), we were told there is no specific kids menu which really surprised me, Kids meal 1 sausage & fries (no gravy) - disgusting! 1 meal of Fishcakes & Fries (my fries were cold and fishcakes had hardly any taste)the service behind the bar was awful, as ordered 1 drink and was asked why I was waiting for at bar - told barman 2 more drinks and then was promptly told to wait till he had finished his conversation about wasps! Will most definitely not be going back again, I will be going back to Rose Revived on the other side of the Riveri would rather give this 0 stars!

Went to this pub today 3/5/10 and wished I hadn't bothered was going to The Rose Revived but because it was so popular couldn't get a table so decided to go to this pub which was just over the bridge should of guessed when the car park was nearly empty that we should of left it but we thought that we would give it a try and wished that we hadn't where do I start the coffee that I ordered before my meal didn't even taste like coffee it was very weak and was more like water than coffee ,then waited more than 45 minutes for our meal even tho it was nearly empty at the time I ordered, then when the meals came my sons chicken in a basket (£6.95) which was one piece of chicken and some cold fries ,my meal was sausage of the week with mash and oinons and gravy (£7.95) my mash wasn't homemade it was just smash and was also cold and no oinions and gravy it was awful and basic food the other meal was fishcakes and fries and a bit of salad this food is advertised has home made food nothing was homemade and just basic this was one of the worse pub food I have ever tasted and could of made this at home for alot less money £5 instead of £28 I will never go back again so if you think about going in the furture don't it's better to wait a little longer at the Rose Revived than to go to this pub

Three of us went and had a meal here in August 09 which i can only say was just 'basic food', also all the food served was only warm instead of hot.

Took ages to get the food. Service was awful, we had to keep asking for things and the girls waiting on the table had no idea.

They kept clearing away plates/dishes before we had all finished.

I am not normally one to complain and have never posted a review on anything before, but can honestly say I was disappointed and would never go there again.

Me and a few of the girls had dinner here last month and ha a fantastic meal. Cant rave about the place enough. Everything tasted really fresh and as an added bonus the drinks were well priced.
