I can see that there has been alot of negative reviews of The cross keys since they refused a soldier in uniform. I thought that after enjoying an evening of great food, at very reasonable prices, and a really lovely atmosphere after a recent refurbishment I should add my positive review. The staff were very helpful and friendly to myself and my wife who were looking for a place to eat after a cinema trip. We had thoroughly delicious meals, myself having steak and my wife the chicken tikka. There were very friendly staff on duty, who were very attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was so good that we decided to spend the whole evening in the pub instead of visiting other pubs in Witney. Well done ye olde cross keys!
Ye Olde Crosskeys has refused to serve a soldier returning from active service in Afghanistan. He was a guardsman in the Grenadier Guards,who had to suffer fatalities whist on tour of Afghanistan. Ye Olde Crosskeys should have given them a free bar!
Hiding behind untruths as an excuse not to provide servicemen and women in uniform with food and drink is even more disgraceful than refusing them in the first place. Http://www. Dailymail. Co. From a new soldiers mumabsolutly disgraceful, these lads and lasses fight for our freedom, to treat them this way is appalling, makes me sickyou should be thoroughly ashamed I hope no one ever crosses your doorway again!
It is immediately apparent that the review from WENDZ is a defence of the pub and she may even be the manager concerned. The action of refusing to allow soldiers in uniform to dine disgusts me and is not in line with modern "interpretation" of Queens Regulations. I draw you attention to this;
The issue of wearing uniforms has been high on the political agenda since last year when a review commissioned by Gordon Brown recommended a 'wider use of military uniforms'. The MoD subsequently ordered servicemen and women to wear their uniforms in public as 'often as possible' but stopped short of implementing the initiative at its own head office.
I personally would never use this establishment and hope others boycott it.

Used to like this place then saw them throw out soldiers for being in uniform. DISGRACE!
I found the pub lacking in atmosphere and also was appalled to see that serving soldiers in uniform turned away from eating a meal with this establishment. I find this appalling and will never eat here again and would advise anyone to boycott this pub until it reviews its policy on out brave Armed Forces.
